A-Dub made me promise that I wouldn't go AS overboard on Bobo's birthday as I did for Gigi's third. Since our birthdays are in February and hers is in March we have never gotten to have a summer party, so I wanted it to be all "fun in the sun." And I only get two parties before he starts having an opinion so I had to milk it.
So we went with a "backyard BBQ" theme, with a splash! We got out our waterslide and island and baby pool so the kids could keep cool. Sorry, adults! At least we had cold beer.
Per A-Dub's request I kept the decor pretty simple, but I was happy with how it turned out. I got to use my favorite color, red, and since his party was in June there were tons of Fourth of July decorations out so I had a lot of options.
The party's theme really got started when I saw some of these on a website somewhere. So darn cute. Easy to make, but kind of a whip! The "burger" is a brownie. So I had to make two huge pans of brownies and cut them out with a biscuit cutter. Don't worry, the brownie scraps didn't go to waste!
The overall verdict was a thumbs-up on the brownie cupcakes. They were worth the effort.
I made cookies for favors and cannot believe I forgot to take a picture! They were yellow and orange suns. The lovely Erin Thomas at www.betweenthesheetsco.com designed these cute stickers to put on the back though.
As usual, I wished I had taken more pictures! Here are a few from the day:
Can't believe my sweet boy is 1 and the skinniest little string bean! His pants will barely stay up.
Someone kept thinking that it was her birthday . . . . again. Sorry girl! She was a good sport about the presents though.
This is our "water slide." It doesn't look like much, but it's pretty fun! Way better than a Slip N' Slide. It's inflatable! So no friction burns down stomachs. I even tried it out the weekend before.
Of course we got out all those water toys and practically every kid was in our playhouse the whole party.
One more picture of this cute guy!
I made this smash cake. Wish I'd gotten a better picture. It was so easy and turned out really cute. I got a 4-inch springform cake pan at Hobby Lobby.
He dug in like a champ!
Happy Birthday little dude! We love you!
Very cute, Taylor. Happy bday Bobo.
